I'm totally fascinated by this entire series! BTW I just realized who Lucien reminds me of...Jareth (David Bowie's character) from the movie Labyrinth. Loved that movie and the character. Explains why i like Lucien so much! :-)
I began viewing this series with the last few chapters and liked how nicely your photos are sized and how interesting your dolls are. The accessories are also worth mentioning. Add to that the ease of identifying the dolls (names) and their relationships (your use of a foreword is simple but effective for that) and I went back to read from the beginning. I’m unfamiliar with this genre, but whoa! Clever stuff. First, you gave Ellery an amazing voice. The voice, the clever geek t-shirt, and her musings established her character in your first episode.
My problem is, I often find myself laging when reading genres I’m not familiar with. I seem to have to work hard at understanding allegory. The sexual tension between Ellery and Lucian confused me at first, but the girl likes to self-pleasure so why not an imaginary lover! I’m not sure how that’s going to work out for her, but what seems apparent to me is that she’s on a journey of self-discovery. As she digs deeper to understand Lucian (her creation, therefore herself) she will unlock parts of herself, leading to becoming a more effective person.
Am I anywhere near close? Not to start a book review, but does anyone else have input on what they’re getting out of this?
Thanks, ModernWizard for such an interesting character. How long has Ellery been in your collection with an established name and personality traits?
